Why Invest in this Fund

Growth Potential
Investing in stocks has proven to be one of the best ways to grow assets and stay ahead of rising costs and taxes. Historically, returns from stock investments have outpaced the returns of many other types of investments in exchange for greater risk.

Expert Management

Allianz CCM Capital Appreciation Fund is managed by William Bannick and Robert Fitzpatrick. William Bannick is Managing Director of Cadence Capital Management and co-manager of Allianz CCM Capital Appreciation Fund. He is a CFA Charterholder and received his B.S. from the University of Massachusetts and M.B.A. from Boston University.

Robert Fitzpatrick joined Cadence Capital Management in 1999 as a member of the investment team. He brings a valuable background in research and analysis to his current role as portfolio manager and Managing Director.

The team utilizes the "growth-at-a-reasonable-price" philosophy. This process seeks to select large-cap stocks that the managers believe have strong growth potential, and are reasonably priced (have lower P/Es).

Growth With Value
Using a blend of growth and value investing styles, the Fund seeks large-cap growth stocks that the manager feels are fairly valued by the market. This focus on growth potential with attention to price can help protect the Fund from the risk of buying overvalued stocks.

Investment Process
  • Quantitative screening-Apply a systematic selection screen to a universe of approximately 1,000 large-cap stocks. Each stock is ranked by growth and price considerations.
  • Qualitative research-Identify the approximately 100 stocks with the most favorable profiles and subject these to in-depth research.
  • Make investment decisions-Select the securities that offer the best combination of sound value and promising growth potential. Continually monitor and analyze the list of opportunities for additional buy candidates.
  • Apply rigid sell discipline-Sell holdings when a security shows declining earnings expectations or announces a negative earnings surprise. Holdings are also sold when a security reaches excessive relative valuations and/or when a security grows to represent more than 2% of a total portfolio.

Past performance is no guarantee of future results. Investment return and the principal value of an investment will fluctuate. Shares may be worth more or less than original cost when redeemed.

Equity funds are subject to the basic stock market risk that a particular security, or securities in general, may decrease in value. When investing in value securities, the market may not necessarily have the same value assessment as the manager, and, therefore, the performance of the securities may decline.

P/E is a ratio of security price to earnings per share. Typically, an undervalued security is characterized by a low P/E ratio, while an overvalued security is characterized by a high P/E ratio. Standard deviation is an absolute measure of volatility measuring dispersion about an average which, for an index, depicts how widely the returns varied over a certain period of time. The greater the degree of dispersion, the greater the risk.
