Why Invest in this Fund

Dynamic Growth Potential
Mid-cap stocks offer investors an attractive opportunity to add diversification to their portfolios, as well as to invest in the breeding ground for tomorrow’s large-cap leaders. Mid-cap stocks offer dynamic growth potential as they are more nimble than larger firms, while tending to have longer histories of success than small-cap companies.

Model-Driven Investment Process
Investors and managers have biases that can affect their decisions and, in turn, the market value of individual securities. Nicholas-Applegate’s systematic investment process uses an objective, quantitative stock selection model to try to exploit the inefficiencies that result from investor behavior. The Fund applies this model to its mid-cap stock universe, then uses fundamental analysis to further evaluate each potential investment before it is purchased for the portfolio.

Access to a Premier Investment Firm
Founded in 1984, Nicholas-Applegate boasts an impressive list of institutional clients and has more than $14.0 billion in assets under management (as of December 31, 2007).  The firm’s Systematic Team has been managing quantitative strategies since 1990, bringing a depth of experience to the Allianz NACM Mid-Cap Growth Fund.

Investment Process
  • Through a dynamic set of fundamental factors, Nicholas-Applegate's mid-cap growth equity model ranks stocks based on their prospects for positive change, sustainability, and timeliness.
  • The fundamental factors used in the process are the result of rigorous testing to ensure they have demonstrated value-added over time.
  • The resultant investment ideas are reviewed by the portfolio management team to confirm and test investment thesis before final purchase.
  • Risk management system reviews portfolios daily utilizing both attribution and portfolio analysis.

The NACM Mid-Cap Growth Fund will normally invest in common stocks of companies with medium market capitalizations. The Fund may utilize foreign currency exchange contracts, options, stock index futures contracts and other derivative instruments. In response to unfavorable market and other conditions, the Fund may deviate from its principal strategies by making temporary investments of some or all of its assets in high-quality fixed income securities, cash and cash equivalents. The stocks of medium-sized companies may be more volatile than the stocks of larger companies.  Investing in non-U.S. securities entails additional risks, including political and economic risk and the risk of currency fluctuations; these risks may be enhanced in emerging markets. Use of derivative instruments may involve certain costs and risks such as liquidity risk, interest rate risk, market risk, credit risk, management risk and the risk that a fund could not close out a position when it would be most advantageous to do so. Portfolios investing in derivatives could lose more than the principal amount invested in these instruments. Each sector of the bond market entails risk. In an environment where interest rates may trend upward, rising rates will negatively impact most fixed income securities.  © 2007 Allianz Global Investors Distributors LLC, 1345 Avenue of the Americas, New York, NY 10105-4800, www.allianzinvestors.com, 1-888-877-4626.
