RCM's Bozena Jankowska on "Green Investing"

01/21/2008

RCM Capital Management's Bozena Jankowska appeared on Fox Business Network's Money For Breakfast on January 22, 2008.

Ms. Jankowska discussed the growth potential of "green stocks." According to Jankowska, the longer-term outlook is positive. "We've got environmental problems on a global scale. You've got emerging markets growing at phenomenal rates. That has led to various environment problems." These issues can be addressed through relatively new environmental technologies such as wind power and solar energy.

Investments which focus on Eco Energy, Pollution Control, and Clean Water, for example, will be more affected by positive or negative events affecting these sectors than a more diversified investment. Companies in Eco-Sectors may be particularly susceptible to factor such as environmental protection regulation, international or political developments, changes in government subsidy levels, conservation practices, and tax policies, for example. The Eco-Sectors are newly developing and strongly influenced by technological change. Rapid technological changes can render an existing product obsolete. Many companies in the Eco-Sectors may have limited operating histories and smaller-market capitalizations, making their stock prices particularly volatile. Their stocks may also represent less liquid investments than larger, more established companies.
