Jane Edmondson
Jane Edmondson has portfolio management and research responsibilities for the US Systematic Mid Cap strategies. In addition, she has portfolio management and research responsibilities for the US Systematic Large Cap strategies. Prior to joining the US Systematic team, Jane was an analyst in both the Institutional Marketing and Technology areas within Nicholas-Applegate. She joined Nicholas-Applegate in 1996 with five years prior experience as a financial consultant with Merrill Lynch. Jane earned her B.A. from the University of California, Irvine and her M.B.A. from San Diego State University. She has seventeen years of relevant experience.
Doug Forsyth oversees Nicholas-Applegate's Income and Growth Strategies portfolio management and research teams and is a member of the firm's Executive Committee. Prior to joining Nicholas-Applegate in 1994, Doug was a securities analyst at AEGON USA, where he was responsible for financial and strategic analysis of high yield securities. Doug was previously a research assistant at The University of Iowa, where he earned his B.B.A. in finance. He has sixteen years of investment industry experience.

Kunal Ghosh joined the firm in 2006 and has portfolio management responsibilities for the International Global, and Emerging Markets Systematic strategies. Prior to joining the firm, Kunal was a research associate and then portfolio manager for Barclays Global Investors. His experience includes building and implementing models for portfolio management. Before that, he was a quantitative analyst for the Cayuga Hedge Fund. Kunal earned his M.B.A. in finance from Cornell University, his M.S. in material engineering from the University of British Columbia, and his B.Tech from Indian Institute of Technology. He has five years of relevant experience.
Christopher Herrera is the lead portfolio manager for Nicholas-Applegate's global equity and international small cap growth strategies. Chris has also served as an analyst covering international financial services companies. Prior to joining Nicholas-Applegate in 2000, he was an analyst in the Investment Banking division of Lehman Brothers. Chris earned his M.B.A. from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley and graduated cum laude with a B.S. in business administration from the University of Southern California. Chris is a Robert Toigo Foundation Fellow and a Consortium for Graduate Study in Management Fellow. He has eleven years of investment industry experience.
Christopher A. Herrera manages these investment products:
Justin Kass joined the firm in 2000 with responsibilities for portfolio management and research on our Income and Growth Strategies team. He was previously an analyst and interned on the team, where he added significant depth to our proprietary Upgrade Alert Model. He earned his M.B.A. in finance from The UCLA Anderson School of Management and his B.S. from the University of California, Davis. He has ten years of investment industry experience.
James Li joined the firm in 2000 and has portfolio management and research responsibilities for the US Systematic Large Cap Growth, US Systematic Large Cap Core, US Systematic Large Cap and US Systematic Large Cap Growth 130/30 strategies. Prior to joining the firm, James was an investment officer with Accessor Capital Management and a consultant with Frank Russell Company. He earned his Ph.D. in physics from the University of Washington, his M.B.A. in finance from Texas A&M University, and his B.S. from Fudan University, Shanghai. James has thirteen years of relevant experience.
Pedro Marcal has portfolio management and research responsibilities for the International Equities team. Pedro also serves on the firms asset allocation committee. He was previously a portfolio manager on the firm's Global Select team, as well as the Emerging Countries team where he led a nine-person team in California, Singapore and Hong Kong. Pedro was responsible for the Emerging Countries, Emerging Countries Small Cap, and China portfolios. Prior to joining the firm in 1994, Pedro spent five years as an economist at A. B. Laffer, V. A. Canto & Associates, a global economic consulting firm. Pedro was also a trader at A-Mark Precious Metals, a commodities firm. He holds an M.B.A. from The UCLA Anderson School of Management and a B.A. from the University of California, San Diego. As part of his undergrad degree, Pedro spent a year studying development economics at London University. He has nineteen years of investment industry experience.
Mark Roemer joined the firm in 2001 and has portfolio management responsibilities for the Systematic Small, Systematic 130/30, Systematic Small-Mid and Systematic Market Neutral strategies. Before becoming a portfolio manager, Mark acted as the systematic team's liaison to the client service and sales team. He was previously principal and U.S. equity product manager with Barclays Global Investors. Mark was a client relationship officer with BGI after having begun his career with Kleinwort Benson Investment Management of London. He earned his master's degree in finance from the London Business School, as well as an M.S. from Stanford University in their joint master's program between the College of Engineering and Stanford Business School. He earned his B.S. from Virginia Tech. He has twelve years of relevant experience.
Senior Vice President, Portfolio Manager, International and Global Equities
Nelson Shing joined the firm in 2003 and has portfolio management responsibilities for Nicholas-Applegate's global equity strategy. He was previously an analyst with Pequot Capital Management, Inc.; Morgan Stanley Investment Management, Inc.; C.Blair Asset Management, L.P.; and Credit Suisse First Boston. Nelson earned his B.S. in business administration from the University of California, Berkeley. He is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and has eleven years of investment industry experience.
Nelson W. Shing manages these investment products:
Douglas Stone is Director of Research and Risk Management at NACM. Prior to joining the firm in 1994, Doug was Senior Research Analyst and Vice President with the Frank Russell Company, where he managed international equity strategy research. He handled the editing and publishing of the Russell Research Commentaries, the development of an international equities profile system and the co-development of the Salomon-Russell Indices. Previously, he was a lecturer at the University of Washington's School of Business and an economist with the U.S. Department of Interior. He has published articles in economics and finance journals and is a member of the Journal of Investing's Advisory Board. Doug earned his M.B.A. in international finance from the University of Washington and his B.A. in political science from Northwestern University. He has nearly 30 years of investment experience.

Steven Tael
Steven Tael joined the firm in 2005 and has portfolio management responsibilities for the International, Global and Emerging Markets Systematic strategies. Previously, Steven worked at Mellon Capital Management in San Francisco, where he was a research analyst in the area of investment research. His experience spans quantitative model building, model production and portfolio management. Prior to that, he was an Advisory Systems Engineer for Bank of America, where he co-developed a global portfolio risk reporting system. He also was Director of Information Technologies at AffiniCorp USA. Steven has a Ph.D. in applied mathematics and statistics from State University of New York, Stony Brook, and a B.S. and M.A. in mathematics from the University of California, Santa Barbara. He has twelve years of relevant experience.
Horacio Valeiras is the Chief Investment Officer of Nicholas-Applegate and has lead management responsibilities for all Systematic Growth products. Prior to joining Nicholas-Applegate in 2002, he was a managing director of Morgan Stanley Investment Management, London, responsible for developing and overseeing their Global Core Equity and European tactical asset allocation programs. Horacio was previously head of International Equity and asset allocation programs with Philadelphia-based Miller Anderson & Sherrerd. He started in the investment management industry with Credit Suisse First Boston, where he became the director and chief international investment strategist based in their London office. Horacio earned his M.B.A. with an emphasis on finance from the University of California at Berkeley and his master's degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he became an instructor in their graduate school program. He earned a B.S. in chemical engineering from Virginia Tech. He has eighteen years of investment management experience.

Carma Wallace joined Nicholas-Applegate in 1999 as the lead market research analyst. She has been a long-time member of the Systematic team, specializing in the small-cap area. Carma was previously a research analyst with FinEcon and a valuation economist with Thefeld, Finch & Abrams, CPAs. She is a CFA charterholder and holds master and bachelor of science degrees in managerial economics from the University of California, Davis. She has nine years of investment industry experience.

Michael Yee has portfolio management, trading and research responsibilities for the Income and Growth Strategies team. He has been a member of the team since 1999. Prior to joining the firm in 1995, he worked as a financial consultant for Priority One Financial/Liberty Foundation.
