Focused on Valuations and Dividends
Throughout the firm's history, NFJ Investment Group LLC (NFJ) has been unwavering in its commitment to a dividend-focused value approach to stock investing. Founded in 1989 in Dallas by Chris Najork, Ben Fischer, and John Johnson, NFJ now manages assets for a sizable list of institutional and private clients through managed account programs and retail mutual funds, which are both offered through Allianz Global Investors. As of March 31, 2009, NFJ had assets under management of more than $21.5 billion.
When NFJ's Founders began working together more than 30 years ago, they based their investment philosophy on a well-supported observation: that dividend-paying, low P/E stocks have performed impressively-at all capitalization levels-over extended periods of time. NFJ remains true to this approach today, investing only in what it considers to be fundamentally sound companies with stronger value characteristics than a portfolio's benchmark. The firm also stands out for its focus on risk control. In an effort to strike the most attractive risk/reward balance, NFJ employs a unique "3D" strategy, emphasizing discipline, dividends and diversification.
Notably, each of the professionals on NFJ's tight-knit team serves as both research analyst and portfolio manager, fostering an environment that is exceptionally collaborative. The group consists of three founding Managing Directors, two "second generation" Managing Directors and two "third generation" Portfolio Managers who possess an average of 26 years of value investing experience. |
